2011 saw the Lodge conduct two MOCHIP events (one in February and one in March) which brought in and created MOCHIP Amber Alert ReadyPackets on 163 children from Poplar Bluff and the surrounding communities.
MOCHIP is a comprehensive child identification and protection tool designed to give families a measure of protection against the ever increasing problem of missing children. This program is provided free of charge to every family who wishes to participate.
Privacy is an extremely important factor in the program. All Data given voluntarily by parents is processed into an Amber Alert format readable by most Law Enforcement agencies and then it given back to the parents in a sealed envelope. No data is stored and all computers used in creating the packets are wiped clean of all data before the event closes.

The Lodge, Shriners, Order of the Eastern Star and Family members came out in great numbers to help with the several stations in the event which opened at 10am and closed at 3pm. Stations included Height/Weight, Data Entry, Fingerprinting, Printing and CD Burning, ID Card Processing and finally Dental Imprinting which was conducted by students from the Missouri Southern State University Dental Hygiene program out of Sikeston, MO.

Currently 9 missing children from Missouri have been successfully relocated to their families largely in part because of the parent’s proactive measures in getting an MOCHIP packet into the hands of the authorities immediately. That is 9 of our children. Even 1 would make this cause worth every penny spent and every minute volunteered to see the program through. While we hope that no parent will ever have to use these packets we are committed to conducting the MOCHIP event every year in Poplar Bluff and are hopeful that people in our community spread the word that they can get these packets locally in less than 30 minutes.

I personally thank all of our volunteers for their shared committment to the program and our children’s safety. I am also hopeful we will see such a great turnout in the future!
